Armart and his wife Woranee fled on foot as the tsunami swallowed up their only boat. They had used the boat to net crabs which they sold to provide for their family.
After the tsunami, Armart no longer had a boat to go crabbing. He worked in a fruit and rubber plantation near his village of Hin Lart in Southern Thailand. His income was insufficient to support his large family of eight people.
For more than a year, Armart asked many organizations for a new boat but was refused each time. When he approached Operation Blessing, Armart was shocked and overjoyed to hear good news. Operation Blessing built Armart and his wife a new boat and provided them with a new engine too.
Armart said, “When Operation Blessing offered to build me a new boat, I was so happy and grateful. I like my boat so much and want to take good care of it.”
On the day Armart’s boat was officially presented to him, 26 other families in the fishing industry also received new boats from Operation Blessing. All of these families also had sad stories of how their lives and livelihoods were marred by the tsunami.
Armart and Woranee are now earning a very good income and have more than enough to support their large family. They are so happy that God gave them the one thing they needed through Operation Blessing. Armart was glad to say, “Now that I have my new boat, I no longer need to worry that I won’t be able to take good care of my children.”
