Operation Blessing’s “Bless a Child” project has been providing holistic care for children from HIV affected families since June 2005. Currently there are 20 children in the program located in Chumpon Province, Southern Thailand, who all receive ongoing educational, nutritional and medical support. Operation Blessing works in partnership with the local La Mae Church who also coordinates monthly “Fun Days” for all the children.
On the 17-19th April 2007, Operation Blessing, in cooperation with La Mae Church, held a three day Summer Camp for the children from the Bless a Child program and others from the community. Eighty-four children attended the camp and participated in a range of activities including art and craft, song and dance, English language classes, and a variety of games. Mesbun, a thirteen year old boy said, “This camp was so much fun! I made many new friends and learnt a lot. I really enjoyed the song and dance classes and art activities.”
Operation Blessing also provided new school bags, uniforms, shoes, socks, belts and stationery for 40 children, including those in the Bless a Child program, to help prepare them for going back to school. Eighty-one people attended the fun-filled day and participated in a range of games and songs, before closing the day by sharing a meal together.
